Q: Why do I get premature alterntor failure? A: Remember the primary purpose of the alternator is to provide a constant DC Voltage for all of the vehicle's electrical components and electronics. The secondary function is to keep the battery in a full state of charge and supply current to operate ignition and fuel systems.
The Key Word is "keep" the battery in a full state of charge, not recharge the battery. When a new alternator is installed and the battery is not fully charged, the new alternator will continue trying to charge thebattery until it overheats and dies a premature death.
Remember to go back to basics when experiencing any problems with the starting or charging
